Sir Aron was the son of Rhys ap Bledri and Angharad ferch Llywelyn Ddiriaid.[3][4]
Lewys Dwnn's heraldic visitations of Wales, made between 1586 and 1613, records that he was a Knight of the Sepulchre ("Marchog Bedd Krist"). He is said to have gone to Jerusalem in the crusade with Richard I of England (which occurred in 1189 to 1192).[4]
His wife was Gwenllian ferch Ednyfed Fychan of Anglesey.[3][4]
